Chapter 21: Consequences
Heyyyyyyyyyy look who it is! As you know our dearest Devon went and died last chapter, but for some reason ghosts in my game just love to hang around and hack me off, so it wasn't long before our favourite sexy vampire was back for a visit.
Notice the daylight outside- ever since the days of the Mars Legacy ghosts in my game tend to pop up and stay for days at a time. They can get a bit annoying, but at least I won't have any more ghosts to worry about for a while, in fact no one in Bridgeport will...
Mm-hmm, ever since our resident reaper Cubert moved into the Heart household things have gone a little bit pears and custard shaped on the death front. Since that day a couple of Sims have died in the neighbourhood, but without a reaper to ferry their souls to the beyond everyone is kind of... stuck.
Not that Cubert noticed though- he was having too much fun being human.
But I can't fault him too much for abandoning his duties- Cubert had recently gone and given birth so I get why he'd be a tad distracted.
Ahh, and a very cute distraction is Falon, even if she has inherited her dad's crazy dress sense.
Aside from childcare, much of Cubert's free time was also spent pumping some iron at the gym, working on those glutes, feeling the burn, etcetera. Quite why he chose to work out so much I have no idea, but with my Simmies permanently on freewill there's no guessing what they'll do.
Kidnapping, for example...
Piper, our live-in maid and friend of the family, helped to raise Falon when she was just a baby and as such became very attached to the young girl. She was so attached she tried to make off with her on a number of occasions, but Cubert stopped her.
Before long it was time for Falon's birthday, and this was celebrated with a distinct lack of sparkles. This confused me for a little while but then I realised it was down to a mod I had installed (ain't it always?)
Ah, she's quite a cutie... I think. With the dark skin it's kinda hard to tell what she looks like ennit?
Reapers like slides.
Not long after Falon's birthday another celebration was held- a quiet ceremony in the garden to commemorate the joining of Castiel and Cubert in unholy matrimony.
The wedding was a quiet affair- intimate and romantic (despite Gabriel's look-at-me antics).
And before long the two were married.
Squeeeeeeeeeeee!
Immediately after the ceremony the happy couple got down to business, ifyannowhaimsayin'.
Meanwhile, above ground Falon was spending some quality time with her grandfather. It should be a good thing, but honestly I question Devon's bad influence...
It's not like Falon can afford to be picky though- she doesn't have a whole lot of friends. I can only assume it was a dry season down on the olde child-rearing farm, because at this point I could hardly find anyone for Falon to play with.
In the end her bestest buddy ended up being her cousin Dameon Hemlock.
But never mind eh-at least Falon had loving parents on hand to keep her happy.
Something else that kept our girl content was lots and lots of beautiful blood. Bahahahahahaha! Ahem *cough*
In case you haven't figured it out by now, Falon inherited Castiel's vampishness- even though he cured himself before she was born.
Reaper-vamps like slides.
You know, without the sparkles it's really hard to figure out whether a Simmie is celebrating their birthday or having a seizure...
In this case, Gabriel is indeed celebrating his transition into an Adult.
And not far away Cas did too.
The following night it was Falon's turn to age as she prepared to become a teenager.
Lack of sparkles...
Oh great, she's giving me chills already. Barely fresh in her teenage bones and already she's, well...
Doing what the Hearts do. To be fair though Devon did just point and laugh at the girl at her birthday party, so he was asking for it.
With Falon having aged into a charming(ish) young woman Castiel and Cubert could only congratulate themselves on a job well done. Their relationship wasn't conventional in any sense, yet somehow they had made it work, and neither could have been happier.
In this moment it was perfection. Perhaps then they should have known that it was destined to all fall down.
The next day Paiden died. Or at least she started to, but with no reaper to carry her over she couldn't completely expire, and I had to reset her.
Truthfully the troubles had been mounting for a while, and I guess it was only a matter of time before it would all come to a head.
Across Bridgeport there were ghosts, piles of ash, remains- all wasted leftovers from a town on vacation from Death. It had been weeks since anyone had crossed over and consequently my game was fucked.
On the surface things seemed okay- obviously it was a little weird having no one die but it wasn't the end of the world; it wasn't affecting me in any real way. Ah, but then I discovered something. The reaper hiatus had meant we'd entered into some sort of stasis, where no real progression could be made in the game without massive consequences.
Eventually I realised something would have to be done to fix things, and it would end, as it had began, with one person.
Cubert.
It was a sad eventuality but really there was nothing else I could do. When Cubert joined the Heart household he brought a lot of love and life with him but a stark cold fact always remained- the fact that he was Death, and nothing good could really come of that.
It was only a matter of time before Cubert would have to go back to where he'd come from.
Whether it was meant to be or not, during his time in Bridgeport Cubert had achieved certain things- children for one, and naturally if he was going to leave he would have to first say goodbye.
Falon didn't react well when her dad told her he was leaving, and Castiel took the news with an even greater sense of despair.
Then, goodbyes uttered, it was time for Cubert to leave...
...And go back to work.
There was time for one last hug- the final embrace of Death.
And then he was gone.
With Cubert gone life continued as normal for most members of the Heart household. Any wonders I had about whether Devon's ghost might finally piss off where swiftly shattered when he continued to linger like a bad smell.
All the other ghosts of the past generations continued to hang about too, the pesky buggers.
Castiel, as you can imagine, was not coping too well with the loss of his husband. He slacked off at work, taking less and less Private Investigator cases, and would burst into tears frequently.
Cubert meanwhile was hard at work as I discovered when he came back for Paiden a few days later. This time she passed on without incident, though I think the sadness of her death was probably the last thing the family needed at this time.
Still, I think it gave Castiel some hope, and an idea... Losing Cubert was like a fist to the gut, so maybe if he could see him again, even if it was for the last time- if he could say goodbye properly then maybe the pain would be less.
Just a few hours later, Castiel drowned himself in the pool.
It was a desperate measure to take to spend time with the one that you love, but for Castiel it was so necessary. Essentially he had a Get Out of Jail Free card when it came to death so if he could use that to spend time with Cubert, even if it only gave him a brief oasis of calm in a long while, it would be worth it.
That was the last night Castiel and Cubert spent together for a very long time.
Following his stolen night with Cubert Castiel was still hurting, though it wasn't quite as painful as before. The dark clouds of sadness that had enveloped him had lifted slightly, and he was finally able to think about getting on with his life.
In her teenage years Falon had developed an interest in the athletic skill, so gradually Castiel began to train her so he could help her achieve her goals.
The distraction helped Cas a great deal but he was still awash with sadness, and he wasn't alone in feeling depressed.
I haven't mentioned this before but Piper kind of had a crush on Cubert. Often she'd roll wants to kiss him and whatnot, but I ignored these considering Cubert was taken and gay. Still, this didn't stop Piper from bawling like a baby for days after he'd left.
And speaking of random wants... Not long after his last night with Cubert, Castiel rolled a doozy.
Now as you know I like to take my leads from my Sims wishes, so every time they roll a want- even if it's for something rather unexpected and a little bit bonkers- I listen.
Castiel wished to have a baby, and I knew just who I could use to make this happen.
The only question now was how to approach the subject. I mean, you can't start a conversation with "Hey, we're both sad and lonely- get on me", can you? Nope, getting things moving would require some tact.
Oh fuck it, who has time for tact? No, all you need is some liquor and a hot tub.
Castiel and Piper had been friends for a long time so I wasn't too sure how she'd react to his advances. For all I knew she might reject him outright and crush his dreams.
Turns out she was all over it.
After the insemination of Miss Piper Amiee-Lee Lawson, the ever-gentlemanly Castiel made her a nice hot beverage so they could both relax and unwind.
I guess maybe the shock set in at this point, because all of a sudden, mid-sip, Piper tumbled blubbering to the ground. Maybe there was a ghost nearby or summat, I dunno.
Whilst Piper collected dust on the kitchen floor Castiel headed out to work, inexplicably still in his towel.
Later on she woke up from her snooze and set about preparing for the arrival of the baby. After hitting the books for a bit, Piper rolled the want to chat to someone so I had her invite an old friend over for some goopy carbonara, or whatever the Sims equivalent of tea and biscuits is.
I miss the days of Sims 2 when they used to have toaster pastry- I'm assuming that meant Pop Tarts. Mmm, Pop Tarts...
Anyways, err, ahem. What can you say about this picture? On her way to greet her guest Piper was suddenly grabbed by a lusty Devon and smooched, which I was somewhat flummoxed by. I mean, I'm not surprised by Devon- inappropriate kissing is his favourite past-time- what threw me was how susceptible Piper was to his advances. She didn't faint or anything... not that I imagine that would have stopped Devon anyways.
After he'd satisfied his urges Devon went back about his business, leaving Piper to invite her guest inside, and yes it's Ariane- Castiel's ex-girlfriend.
Piper became good friends with Ariane when she was the Hearts' maid and Ariane was dating Castiel, and as such good buddies I figured they should spend some time together now to talk about womanly things like pregnancy and fallopian tubes and all that.
Of course, Ariane wasn't exactly thrilled when she was told that Piper had been knocked up by her former sweetheart.
But I wouldn't feel too bad for Ariane, because before you could say creepish predator Gabriel was in there like a shot trying to make Ariane feel better...
...in his own special way.
Hey, what's an innocent massage between, well, not friends but a girl and the identical twin of the love of her life; the boy who broke her heart? Okay, it's a little weird, but it could be weirder...
Rebound sex anyone?
Yes please!
After Gabriel and Ariane's raunchy rendezvous Ariane was free to go, but I guess that wasn't really in her plan. Instead of buggering off home Ariane stuck around for a while and did some stalking, with a bit of vomming thrown in for good measure.
She lurked in the Heart household for so long she began to stink, and she popped out a baby bump.
Elsewhere in the house Piper was sporting an altogether more impressive baby bump. It's like an elephant's bump...
Castiel took a keen interest in the development of his child.
And Gabriel was pretty thrilled about his too.
Ariane saw out most of her pregnancy at the Heart household, despite not really being invited, and she was even there for Piper's labour.
It's a girl! Meet Micah.
Sometime during Micah's birth Ariane ran off home, so the next day I had Gabriel track her down so he could also meet his new baby.
Tis another girl- Ashleigh Rose. I seem to like giving my Sims middle names at the moment- it's a shame that isn't a real option in the game isn't it?
To celebrate the birth of his child Gabriel snogged Ariane in front of her husband...
...And then ran off with the baby.
The following day it was time for little Micah to age up. Prepare yourselves...
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Ohmygod she's freaking adorable!
But why must it be that the cutest kiddies hate me? As a toddler Micah wasn't exactly a big smiler, nope- she preferred to look at me like I was Satan in skinny jeans. Eeep...
She's probably the most demanding toddler I've ever had- everything has to be just so, and Micah has to be attended to at all times. And if her needs are not met? Well...
HOW DARE YOU LEAVE ME SITTING IN THIS CONTRAPTION FOR MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS!
Jeepers.
About the only thing that actually makes Micah smile is time spent with her daddy.
Prissy little bitch, thinks I'm not good enough to watch over her...
Micah may be a little madam but she's not the only princess in the castle. With Ashleigh also aging up the next day I feared Micah's reign would soon be over, and she might have to *shock horror* share her toys.
One more for the moody party please waiter.
So will Micah and Ashleigh get on, or will one brain the other with a small stuffed toy? You'll have to find out next time I'm afraid. TTFN bitches.
You can find the storyboard version here if you'd like to rec.
