Chapter 20: Oh Hello Death
Ohhhhhhhhhh fiddly fudgesicles. Why does this always happen to me eh? I swear Grim is stalking meh.
Last chapter we saw the beginning of the unfortunate demise of Castiel, who had (stupidly) spent too much time sunbathing, despite his vampish nature. Pretty soon he had collapsed and died, and although I was annoyed by this turn of events, I wasn't exactly pulling my hair out.
Wanna know why...?
Ooh-er, I say, what's this then?
Ah, something I perhaps should have mentioned earlier is the fact that Castiel is Unlucky. That little trait explains why Cas is so prone to disaster, and thankfully it gives him a way out of any stupid scenarios he gets himself in to.
Yes, reapers are rather fond of accident-prone numbskulls like Castiel, and so like to give them another chance at life. Bless.
Castiel was so glad to be alive once again he felt he just had to show his appreciation...
...by, erm, tucking into a nice cup of Grim blood.
Yep, there's nothing nicer than the tangy taste of death.
Afterwards, Cas thought he'd be nice enough to offer the reaper an opportunity to become a vampire, but sadly he didn't go for it.
Booooo, reaper/vamp would have been cool.
I sense though that Castiel won't let the Grim get away that easily...
The following morning everything returned to normal in the Heart household.
Gabriel spent his days hard at work, either at the computer or the office, as he climbed the business ladder.
And Piper continued to not actually clean our house but eat all our food instead.
Later that night Paiden aged up in her customary cross-eyed style.
Oh, although Paiden does look a bit gloomy here I think she's the best looking elder I've seen in a long, long time.
No one besides me really noticed though- Paiden's other half Devon had taken Gabriel out for a night of shimmying and shaking.
And whilst at the club, Gabriel took some time to make a new 'friend'. Delores here (terrible name, urgh) is the daughter of one of those Hemlock vampires you get in the game when you first play Bridgeport.
Now, I know some of you might be thinking 'Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaa, isn't Gabriel engaged already?', and you'd be right- you nosy moral people you. However, Gabriel got engaged when he was a teenager and then when he aged up he acquired the Commitment Issues trait, so it didn't surprise me when he started rolling wants to roll on top of people other than his partner.
Eh, he's happy- I just let him be.
Someone who wasn't quite so happy though was Castiel. After a long day out investigating he kind of found himself a bit frazzled once again by that pesky thing known as the sun. The darn thing set soon enough, but by that point it was too late, and Cas was once again afflicted by the 'Too Much Sun' moodlet, and he, erm, wet himself.
He died a bit later on, some might say of thirst, but I think maybe it was of embarrassment...
Once again our resident reaper showed up to essentially point and laugh at Cas.
And soon he was back in life and full colour, yey.
For the next few days I made sure to keep Castiel fully stocked up with blood in order to prevent further accidents.
Castiel wasn't picky about who he sank his teeth into, as I discovered when he pulled this gentleman into a toothy embrace...
Side note: this guy is actually legacy stalker Kim's husband, and before Cas took a bite I actually found him macking on some floozy... Bad luck dear.
Hmm... I did try alright- I tried to keep him alive, but it just wasn't possible. I'm thinking the fact that he's unlucky plays a big part in Castiel's effed up life, and means that I can't always save him from himself. Sob!
But with a friend in Grim, Cas really doesn't have anything to worry about.
Well, he might have to worry about accidentally killing a woman by putting his fist through her chest...
After being saved from death by Death, Castiel was always nice enough to thank the Grim by giving him a hug or nomming on his brittle bones.
This cycle of death continued on and on and on and on, and in time Cas and Grim actually became very good friends.
Which was handy, because Cas died a lot.
Elsewhere in the hemisphere, Gabriel was full of life. He and Delores had been seeing each other for a while now, and as a result of this... well...
These things happen, yanno? And, as if things weren't twisted enough for Gabriel, his lover Delores is actually married *shocked face*
Not only that, she's married to Gabriel's boss *appalled face*
And that boss, Delores' husband, is actually Castiel's girlfriend Ariane's brother- Sim Fury's grandson *aghast face*
Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to go around shagging everyone...
Meanwhile, not content with letting Gabriel hog all my attention for the day, Castiel decided to flipping drown in the pool.
It worked too- all the members of the Heart household came running outside to cry and stuffs, which is a bit shit for them as really they're crying for nothing.
Et voila- a shiny Castiel once again.
Castiel's dramatic death didn't steal hearts for too long though as promptly Delores went into labour.
Gabriel was nice enough to escort his lady to hospital and he returned with a little baby boy in tow called Dameon.
Meanwhile, back at home- MORE SCENE STEALING.
I really really don't know what happened here. Admittedly, as soon as gen 6. came along I just kind of left Devon and Paiden to their own devices as I thought they'd be smart enough to fricking feed themselves. I think though that Devon was afflicted by the 'Too Much Sun' moodlet, and sadly it zapped his life away. Waahh!
Poor Devon eh, one little mistake and you're on your knees in front of the Grim Reaper... *snigger*
But all was not lost at this time- sometimes the reaper just fracks off and doesn't give me a chance to save anyone, but this time he actually stuck around for a bit (probably hoping to see Castiel).
Immediately I got Paiden to challenge Grim to a game of chess for Devon's life.
But in my haste I forgot something- the dumb bitch doesn't even have one logic point! FUCK.
Ironically, the person who would have been most adept at saving Devon was himself, as he was a Genius.
Screw you irony!
*cry cry* Nice tombstone though. *cry cry*
Oh woe is me. Now I had actually saved the game mere minutes before Devon died, and I'm not gonna lie- I was uber tempted to just go back and pretend it had never happened. However, I like to play my game as it is, no matter what happens, so Devon is dead. Ack.
Oh joy, more scene stealage.
Mm, apparently Castiel decided that we just hadn't had enough excitement in the past few days, and so he went and got himself electrocuted, the plum.
He may have tried to hide under the desk- to cover his shame that way- but I could see him. Oh I see him.
Once again, Castiel was spared by the kind actions of our favourite reaper (excusing Casual Grimmeh... no wait, I hated him).
As usual Cas was eager to show his appreciation, only this time things went a little further...
As you might know by now I mostly play this thing like an unofficial Wishacy- meaning I'm a slave to what my Sims want, and I always try to service their wants, no matter how obscure they may be.
On this occasion Castiel wished to move in with the Grim Reaper, and Death said yes.
Then Cas satisfied some of his other wishes...
Oh. So that's what was hiding under the cloak all along.
You know I feel reapers never get a good deal in this game. Generally they're just faceless harbingers of death who are afforded very little personality and not even a name. But no more!
In this legacy we're doing things a little differently, as per usual. And so, as soon as Castiel's reaper had moved into the household I gave him a shiny makeover and his very own name.
Readers, meet Cubert.
So whilst Cubert was settling into life outside death, across town Gabriel was spending time with his son Dameon, who looks like a right terror in the making. Adorable though, in his own way.
Ah, but during the visit something very weird happened. One of the Hemlock household died, which actually isn't that unusual considering recent events. No, the weird thing was actually this- the vamp turned to ash and then... nothing. The reaper never showed up. Bet you can guess why.
We have a teeny intsy problem... When Cubert moved into the Heart household his picture was added to that list along the side thingy, but he still remained an NPC. I couldn't click on him, I couldn't control him, and weirdest of all his career was still listed as 'Reaper'.
Essentially, Cubert is still the Grim Reaper of Bridgeport, he's just kind of... on holiday.
Now what that means is that the town is kind of stuck in stasis. People are dying yes, but with no reaper on hand to take them to the other side households are just stuck mourning with no end in sight.
It's a bit of a fucking mess alright, and oh yes Cubert is partially invisible now...
As you can imagine this makes things a little difficult for me. I can't click on Cubert's portrait so I'm unable to zoom in on him, so half the time I don't even know where he is, and now that he's invisible it makes things all the more impossible. All I've got to look out for now is a floating head and the occasional pair of bunny slippers, which means that I can never find him. Fuuuuuuuuuuuccccckkkkkk.
But let's leave Cubert for a minute now as we come back to Ariane. Remember her? Ariane is Castiel's girlfriend, and though I do feel rather bad about recent events it wasn't technically my fault. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Poor Ariane. She'd been in love with Castiel since she was a little girl, and after finally getting what she wanted it was all thrown back in her face when she discovered her boyfriend macking on a headless reaper.
I feel like a total shit but it's not my fault it's not IT'S NOT!
*shifty eyes*
I let Ariane move out after that- I'd come to realise that Story Progression would probably treat her better than I ever could, at least I hoped so.
It didn't seem like I'd find out for a while anyways- although Ariane was all moved out she actually hung around the house for about a week.
As I've said in the past- stalking runs in the Fury genes.
A brief documentary-style interlude now as Cubert introduces the wild pink rabbit to his tame bunny slippers. Isn't nature wonderful?
Anyways. So with regards to the whole Cubert-being-headless thing there's more going on than I actually told you. Headless men were actually a pretty common glitch in the early days of Sims 3, and it was caused by one thing in particular...
Let us enjoy the moment through Cubert's eyes now as Castiel finds out what's going on.
Aye, our Cubert is in fact pregnant.
Castiel didn't have too long to enjoy the exciting news though as he, erm, died. Again.
Now given what happened in the Hemlock household not too long ago I was understandably concerned, and I was right to be. Cas burnt down until his ashes were casually dumped on the floor, and then... nothing. No reaper.
In the end there was nowt for me to do but use the resetsim cheat to pop Castiel back into existence, and worry about what to do regarding this whole reaper issue at a later date.
Immediately following his almost-death, Castiel popped out into town to pick up a little something.
It seemed like the right thing to do. Castiel was about to be a father- he couldn't afford to keep dropping dead every five minutes, and not being a vampire anymore would make that a hella lot easier to manage.
And so, it was time to change.
Awwww.
Someone else making the change that day was Gabriel. The twins had always done everything together so being human as one seemed appropriate too. Besides, it would be easier for Gabriel to procure his dreams of business domination if he didn't keep almost dying in meetings.
To commemorate the humanisation of Castiel and Gabriel I finally got round to making ice sculptures of the pair. Each of them gets a statue cause I actually consider them both heirs- they're so identical I think it'd be weird to just pick one, even though you guys have chosen favourites I know.
Ooh, ow, the pain!
It's kind of hard to get a good labour picture when your Sim doesn't have limbs, ennit?
Soon enough though Cubert's appendages were back, and with them a little baby girl- Falon.
For the majority of the baby days (which was just one day actually given my mod) Falon was actually cared for by our maid Piper- who proved to be useful for once.
Well, until she saw a ghost and passed out that is.
When Falon reached her toddler years Cubert took over in caring for the little girl- methinks cowardly maids cannot be trusted.
The next weekend the entire household took a family trip out to the local beach. Gabriel played catch with his son Dameon while Castiel taught Falon to walk.
And then there was some glomping.
As the evening began to close in, Castiel and Cubert embraced by the water's edge.
And then both men got the chance to fulfil a wish.
Yeyyyyyyyyyyy.
And now readers I must leave you, but I leave you with a shot of Castiel looking adorable, as usual.
Oh, and a little side note in case you were wondering who that ghost was earlier- twas Tristan, because thanks to Castiel having some investigative work to do at the olde Heart house, I was able to acquire all the sculptures and tombstones of the previous generations. Hurrah!
Buhbye now :)
